Dauntless has Surpassed the 4 Million Player Mark Already

Phoenix Labs' monster hunting co-op action RPG Dauntless has already welcomed over half a million players to the Shattered Isles in its first 24 hours, which means the game has already surpassed the 4 million player mark worldwide.

Dauntless has been available in early access for some time now, but just launched on May 21st on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games store for true cross-play and cross-progression support. That launch was rather historic, as it's a first for the games industry. All other cross-platform games gained their cross-play support post-launch. Duantless is the first game to go for the full multi-platform simultaneous launch.

Though there were a few problems for players getting into the game on Tuesday, the large influx of players have managed to spend a rather significant amount of time in the game. Since launch, players have clocked in over 2 million player hours in game, with more than 3 million hunts since May 21.

Phoenix Labs will continue supporting Dauntless with significant content roll-outs now that the game has launched, and they're working on welcoming Nintendo Switch and mobile players in the future.

Dauntless puts players in the role of a Slayer, one of a class of hunters who risk their lives to defend the Shattered Isles from the growing Behemoth threat. As a Slayer, players and their hunting party are all that stand between the Shattered Isles and the Behemoths that seek to devour them. Players take on boss-sized monsters, forge powerful weapons, and craft armor from the very creatures they slay. And the whole thing is free-to-play.
