Minecraft Has Sold 176 Million Copies Over The Past Decade

An interesting and staggering number has been revealed this week when it came to overall sales of Minecraft over the game's decade-long existence. As part of the promotion for Minecraft Earth, Microsoft has been doing a few different posts about the game and the fact that it turned 10 years old in 2019. During one of those posts, the company revealed that over the past decade, both while they were in control and during the original Mojang days before the buyout, the game has officially racked up over 176 million copies sold around the world, in almost every single country on the planet.

As some people have noted, that number surpasses Tetris in sales, as that franchise only racked up 170 million in sales back when they revealed their numbers clear back in 2010. We'll see if The Tetris Company comes around looking to show off new numbers in 2019 now that this news is out, but it's certainly a key moment for Minecraft fans to be on top of the video game world in the current modern era.
