Is That Old Man Gillen or Old Man Jerusalem in Cinema Purgatorio #18?
Today, Cinema Purgatorio #18 was published by Bleeding Cool's own publisher Avatar Press just 4 weeks before League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Tempest Book 6 from Top Shelf, the final comics works between Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill.
But that also means the final chapters of a number of stories, A More Perfect Union by Max Brooks & Gabriel Andrade; Code Pru by Garth Ennis & Raulo Caceres, The Vast by Christos Gage & Gabriel Andrade… and Modded by Kieron Gillen & Nahuel Lopez.
And that final book, Modded, described as Mad Max meets Pokemon, goes off the deep end in terms of meta-ness. And as comics and games crash and clash, there's one more step the comic takes.
Welcome to Old Man Gillen. Or Old Man Jerusalem. Which? Both, simultaneously. Obviously. Games journalism, you see and clearly where Kieron is going to write all his novels one day. And also gives Kieron his Animal Man #25 moment.
I wonder if he will get this page framed and put up in his attic as a kind of preventative Dorian Gray?
