'Evil': The War Between Science & Religion Rolls On in CBS First-Look Trailer

One of the shows that caught our attention this week during CBS's 2019 May Upfronts was Evil, from The Good Fight's Michelle King and Robert King and starring Katja Herbers (Westworld) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage). While we're perfectly fine with calling it "The X-Files-meets-The Exorcist" because we consider that a high compliment, there's something about the first-look trailer and original teaser below that creeped me in its own unique way more than I would've expected from a CBS series (nothing personal, and it does help that there's a CBS All Access feel to the series).

Evil – A psychological mystery that examines science vs. religion and the origins of evil, Evil focuses on a skeptical female forensic psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a carpenter to investigate and assess the Church's backlog of supposed miracles, demonic possessions and unexplained phenomena.

CBS Television Studios' Evil stars Herbers, Colter, Aasif Mandvi, Michael Emerson, Brooklyn Shuck, Skylar Gray, Maddy Crocco, and Dalya Knapp. Michelle King & Robert King write and executive produce, with Robert King also directing. Liz Glotzer also serves as executive producer.

"Robert and Michelle are two of the finest persons I have ever had the privilege of working with. Their brilliant writing and ability to create distinctive, successful television is only surpassed by their quality as people. Everyone at CBS TV Studios is thrilled and very proud to be working with them, Liz and their team for many more years."

Last fall, Michelle King and Robert King signed a new overall deal with CBS TV Studios in Fall 2018, bringing them back to the network where they created and executive produced all seven seasons of critically-acclaimed legal drama The Good Wife. The duo would go on to create/executive produce The Good Wife spinoff The Good Fight for CBS All Access; and are also set to executive produce Showtime's Drama Your Honor, with writer Peter Moffat (The Night Of).
