David Letterman Returning for Second Season of Talk on Netflix

I found the first season of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman to be pretty fascinating, not just for helping me realize how much I missed Letterman in my daily media diet, but for the easy, informative manner in which he conducts long form interviews.

After watching David Letterman in the late night entrenchment he held for over 3 decades, it would be easy to assume that he would struggle to hold a concise interview with a guest for more than 10 minutes. That's not a slam on Dave by any means, it's just that after interviewing thousands of people, it would be easy to keep things going with that format.

Instead, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman brought the venerable comedian together with people he personally found "fascinating". His interview with Barack Obama had as much to do with the civil rights movement of the 1960's as it did with the ground-breaking former President.

The episode with George Clooney featured nearly as much background on refugees as it did on one of the most famous actors of our time. Each episode is has little vignettes interspersed through it, breaking up the interview and adding a touch of background to the larger piece.

The rest of season one of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction included excellent interviews with Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Howard Stern, and my favorite episode of the season, when Tina Fey stopped by.

Netflix announced this morning that a second season of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman will debut on the streaming service starting on May 31st, but the guest list has not yet been announced.

I'm positive that his epic beard, which is a sentient being capable of smashing galaxies, will be returning as well.

We'll have more information on the second season of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman as we get it!
