By now, it’s pretty clear that SYFY‘s second season Happy! is putting its own… ummm… “unique” spin on Easter. You know… like Christmas?
Hard not to describe it as “unique” when you’ve got none other than Sonny Shine (Christopher Fitzgerald) leading the charge to “Make Easter Great Again” – or “MEGA,” but be careful because that might be copyrighted so you’d end up owing Sonny.
Let’s let Dayglo Doug (Curtis Armstrong) be our cautionary tale when we say… you do not want to end up owing Sonny Shine.
But we digress! Our friends Christopher Meloni (Nick Sax) and Patton Oswalt (Happy) have been doing their part off-camera over the past few weeks to make sure you and yours are having the best Easter holiday possible. But unlike the big fella getting props this weekend, Meloni and Oswalt aren’t perfect: they make mistake. But they are also humble men, more than willing to share with us the errors of their ways.
But before checking out Meloni and Oswalt’s outtakes for yourselves, a brief but important reminder to all of you reading this:
A future of animals and feral children eating plastic Easter eggs is an avoidable one. It’s not too late.
Now let’s not forget about next week’s episode “17 Hours and 13 Minutes” (starting at 1:49), which finds Happy questioning his very purpose as an IF and drowning his sorrows – with the unexpected help from none other that Little Bo Peep:
Happy! season 2, episode 4 “17 Hours and 13 Minutes”: Sax eats the jelly and trips B, D, all of it, and all on Hailey’s birthday; Amanda makes a breakthrough.
Season 2 begins with Easter on the horizon –a season of hideous pastels, dye-stained fingertips and a general “who really gives a f***” attitude. A newly sober-ish Sax finds himself struggling with the demands of family and fatherhood. He has sworn to do right by his ex-wife, Amanda, and his daughter, Hailey, which means no booze, sex, drugs or killing.
Happy, meanwhile, is resigned to keeping his partner on the straight and narrow while coping with the fact that a maturing Hailey can no longer see him. Sax’s fresh start will be tested by a familiar enemy: Sonny Shine, who is on a mission to Make Easter Great Again (MEGA) with the help of his demented Easter Bunny henchman.
Written and executive produced by Brian Taylor and comic book writer Grant Morrison, SYFY‘s Happy! is based on Morrison and Darick Robertson‘s comic book series, starring Meloni, Oswalt, Christopher Fitzgerald, Patrick Fischler, Lili Mirojnick, Bryce Lorenzo, Medina Senghore, Ritchie Coster – with Armstrong, Ann-Margret, and Paul “The Big Show” Wight also aboard this season. Both Lorenzo and Fitzgerald were promoted to series regulars with the second season. Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and Toby Jaffe of Original Film, Meloni and showrunner Patrick Macmanus will also executive produce; and the series hails from Universal Cable Productions (UCP).
