BoJack Horseman Proves Bigger Animated Animal, Welcomes ‘Tuca & Bertie’ to Netflix Family [TRAILER]

Birds of a feather may flock together, but that doesn’t mean they don’t get on each other’s “flocking” nerves every now and then, which we’re about to see firsthand when Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip, The Last O.G.) and Ali Wong‘s (Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), American Housewife) new animated comedy series Tuca & Bertie sets up its Netflix nest on Friday, May 3rd.

Created by Lisa Hanawalt (BoJack Horseman), the 10-episode series focuses on the friendship between Tuca (Haddish), a cocky, carefree toucan, and Bertie (Wong), an anxious, daydreaming songbird. Joining Haddish and Wong for the first season are Steven Yuen (The Walking Dead, animated Invincible) as well as guest performers Nicole Byer, Richard E. Grant, John Early, Reggie Watts, Tig Notaro, Amber Ruffin, Jermaine Fowler, Tessa Thompson, and more.

But while today is a day for the animated Netflix family to hold hands around the campfire and welcome a new member into the fold, leave it to none other than BoJack Horseman to remind Haddish and Wong that he’s shown them love before – only to be spurned and ignored (or as the kids say, “ghosted”). Now, we’re guessing someone tipped off Haddish and Wong to BoJack’s ways so they’ve definitely earned the benefit of the doubt – especially when our ego-driven comeback story drops “gems” like the second tweet below:

Here’s a look at the first official trailer for Netflix’s Tuca & Bertie:

While the new animated series is set to debut on May 3rd, Tuca & Bertie will have its global premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. On May 1st, attendees at the event will be able to screen the first episode; and after the screening, there will be a discussion/Q&A with stars Wong and Haddish as well as series creator Hanawalt.

Hanawalt executive produces alongside Raphael Bob-Waksberg (BoJack Horseman), Noel Bright (BoJack Horseman, Friends), Steven A. Cohen (BoJack Horseman, Jack & Bobby), Haddish, and Wong. The series is produced by Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company, with animation handled by ShadowMachine.
