'Star Trek: Discovery' Season 2 Finale "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2" Preview/Predictions – It's Time! [SPOILERS]

As Number 1 (Rebecca Romijn) so succinctly predicted last week on CBS All Access's Star Trek: Discovery, the shit is about to hit the fan. Last week's emotional episode,"Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 1" maneuvered all of the key players into place. The stage is set. In this week's Discovery season finale, "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2," the past, present, and future of Starfleet are about to clash in a spectacular battle with the evils of technology, fate, and canon. It looks like it will be a an epic fight, one to rival The Battle of the Binary Stars. While there is no way to know how – or when – Season 2 of Discovery will end, it is doubtful anyone will come out unscathed.

Beware, a minefield of spoilers and razor sharp conjecture ahead.

The preview for the second part of the Star Trek: Discovery season 2 finale has more action than many shows pack into an hour-long episode. Almost every single scene shows an intense fight for survival. The Enterprise, the Discovery, and their crews, both aboard ship and in shuttles and other spacecraft, battle the combined forces of Section 31. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), in full-on Red Angel gear, must make it to the future, pulling the Discovery in her wake. However, if Leland (Alan Van Sprang) and his evil AI brain Control can obtain the sphere data aboard the Discovery first, all of the efforts of Michael and her mother will have been in vain.

A lot is riding on the outcome of this upcoming battle. Burnham's faithful colleagues have said goodbye to their friends and family and signed on for a trip to an unknown future. But will they all survive the journey? Will the outnumbered and outgunned Enterprise be able to hold off the advancing spy fleet? What special move was Tyler (Shazad Latif) planning and will it help? With only one episode of Discovery left this season, more questions than answers remain.

Analyzing the still images released by CBS All Access in anticipation of the season finale (included throughout this article) it appears that a good portion of the episode centers on Pike (Anson Mount) and the battle aboard the Enterprise. However, this season of Discovery has consistently seen audiences misled by both the preview and the released images. The reality is, until viewers get to the end of "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2," there is no telling where Discovery is going to take them.

I could spend the remainder of this preview attempting to parse out each image and scene, finding every possible clue. But we all know there is a high probability that the information given to us by CBS was meant to lead us down the wrong path. So instead, I am going to make my own season 2 finale predictions based on what we have seen so far this season – and what I know about spin-off shows. I hope you are ready for an in depth, super geeky look inside my Star Trek: Discovery crystal ball.

What happens to the Discovery?

Prediction: The Discovery, and the crew members that survive the finale, are headed for some time travel. I think Burnham will lead the ship 950 years into the future. The next few seasons of the show will take place in the future. Then, in the final season of the show – whenever that is – the crew will find a way home. I think they will come back to a slightly later time, however, likely after the days of The Original Series. And, of course, they will have to leave the Discovery behind to be found by Craft in the Star Trek: Short Treks "Calypso."

What happens to Pike and the Enterprise?

Prediction: Pike and the Enterprise survive the battle and live to fight another day. Pike's future involves a training accident injury, so I doubt he is mortally wounded here. However, there is that pesky mirror universe issue from the end of last week. Also, I think it is possible that Number 1 will not make it through the battle. There are just a few too many photos of her in the released images. Maybe she dies and they use her voice as the Enterprise computer as a memorial?

What happens to Control and the evil Section 31 ships?

Prediction: Phillipa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) pulls some crazy stunt and manages to take out Control. There is even a possible appearance by the "cut off the head of the snake and the body will die" analogy. In gratitude for destroying Control, Admiral Cornwell (Jayne Brook) will appoint Georgiou to head Section 31 and charge the former emperor with rebuilding it from the ground up.

What is Tyler up to?

Prediction: Tyler is headed to the Klingons for help. L'Rell (Mary Chieffo) and her crew are going to show up at the eleventh hour, de-cloak, and save everyone. Now owing one really big favor to his former flame, Tyler is going to join Georgiou in rebuilding Section 31 – and will show up in the spin-off.

What about Spock and canon?

Prediction: Spock (Ethan Peck) leaves the Discovery on a shuttle to protect Burnham (as seen in the preview) and doesn't make it through the time anomaly and into the future. He is picked up by the Enterprise in order to continue on his future five year mission. He will, however, still have daddy issues well into his own future.

Odds and Ends, Hopes and Dreams, More Wishes Than Predictions:

● Culber (Wilson Cruz) shows up aboard the Discovery in the future, having surprised everyone and come aboard in the confusion of the battle.

● Po (Yadira Guevara-Prip) remains aboard the Discovery, travels to the future, and Jett Reno (Tig Notaro) adopts Po as the daughter she never had.

● We get at least one episode next season where Burnham doesn't cry.

● The Discovery will make it to the future, but Dr. Burnham (Sonja Sohn) won't be there.

● There will be at least one comic relief moment where the now sentient Discovery does something the crew doesn't want it to do.

Do you agree with my predictions? Have your own? Put them in the comments! Bleeding Cool will be back after the finale to analyze the snot out of it. The Season 2 Finale of Star Trek: Discovery "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2" will be available Thursday April 17 at 8:30 p.m. EDT on CBS All Access.
