Looking Over GreedFall at Focus Home's What's Next Event

Another game we only got to look at but couldn't touch at the Focus Home Interactive event in Paris was GreedFall from Spiders Games. We had actually seen this game earlier back at E3 2018, but there wasn't much to that presentation at the time. Essentially, this appears to take place in a world similar to the colonization period of America, only with a couple of things happening. First, everyone is stricken with a disease slowly killing them. Second, there are wild beasts that are real the native inhabitants worship as gods, so of course, the conquering forces are trying to burn them to the ground. Third, you're trying to make peace between all the factions here as there are greater problems happening.

We got a look at part of the story in two key areas, the first being the voyage to the new land after rescuing your cousin, and the second being a moment where you have a run-in with an Inquisitor who is killing natives and destroying creatures to clear the land. If you ever wanted to be slapped in the face about how the British treated tribes in the 1600's with a magical twist, this is it. Like, it's near uncomfortable to sit and watch. I want to play the game an experiment with the factions and companions and powers you have, but we saw only a little bit of those aspects to the game. GreedFall will be released sometime in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but we still don't have a firm date.
