'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia!' – Sorry, E! News: No Rum Ham For You!

Coming off a 13th season considered by legions of fans and critics alike as one of its best, things couldn't be better for The Gang from Paddy's Pub. Renewed for Season 14, FXX's long-running sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is now tied with ABC's The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet as longest-running live-action comedy series. Now that's a title Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Charlie (Charlie Day), Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito) would be more than happy to hang behind the bar.

Respect has been earned and is well-deserved, folks… and yet It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia still continues to be left out of conversations and debates when it comes to "Best" lists." For a bar like Paddy's Pub, "turning the other cheek" is only going to last for so long – which might explain what happened today on Twitter:

So the folks over at E! News (wow, do we miss the days of Steve Kmetko and Jules Asner… and G4's Attack of the Show! with Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn… but we digress…) took to Twitter on Monday to ask one of those safe social media debate starters. In this case, if you were trapped on an island and could only watch one should – which one would you choose? Friends, Gilmore Girls, The Office (U.S.), or Grey's Anatomy**:

[Ed. Note: Spoiler? It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia as a write-in]

While we're not in the business of applying "$5 Freud" onto other people's actions, there was more shade (and a wink, we're guessing) in the following tweet than you'll get from the awning at The Waitress' old job.

One person who would definitely consider that a righteous smackdown on the four shows? None other Day, who's actually tired rum ham. And as you can see from the following TMZ video, he's no fan…

Developed by McElhenney and Howerton, and written/executive produced by McElhenney, Howerton, and Day, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia was FX's first comedy hit before moving over to FXX – a fact that FX CEO John Landgraf does not take lightly when he explained at the recent Television Critics Association (TCA) why the series has been so successful for so long – even after all this time: "It was the fist successful deconstruction and reconstruction of a sitcom," praising the leads as "five really hilarious degenerates who are most active schemers" as well as the main reason for the show's success – while also acknowledging the various "social issues" that the series addressed so effectively in the past.

And it appears that there may not be any pre-season 14 "drama" regrading Howerton's involvement in the new season, revealing to The Hollywood Reporter that although work on season 14 won't officially begin until later this year, there's a very good chance we'll have more Dennis in our lives when the series returns: "We're in talks about season 14 right now. The writers room on that is going to start in a couple months." As for Howerton's Dennis being a larger part of that? "That's the plan."

During an interview to promote the second season of A.P. Bio, Howerton spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and revealed that although work on season 14 won't officially begin until later this year, there's a very good chance we'll have more Dennis in our lives when the series returns: "We're in talks about season 14 right now.
