Activion Blizzard and Beenox's Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled  is a fancy remastered, collected edition of the original Crash Team Racing alongside Crash Nitro Kart. The AI is still punishing, the drifting mechanics are still more complicated than your average cart racer, and the maps are still brutal. That said, the graphics have been remastered, the character animations are more expressive than ever, and the soundtrack has also been dusted off and polished.

The most fascinating mechanic of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is still the drifting. You need to oversteer and hold one bumper to start drifting, then hold both bumpers to get the drift speed boost. And that takes an insane amount of dedication to master.

Now, if you're a filthy racing casual like myself, you'll be satisfied just to finish a race in 7th. However, for everyone else, coming in the top 4 is an achievement. Granted, there are difficulty levels, but the enemy AI is still cruel regardless. They're programmed to drift far better than most humans, which makes them a better challenge than your friend on the couch next to you.

So for the folks who find Mario Kart too east,  soon Crash Team will be back to kick your butt again.

You can check out our full demo session below. The footage is pretty much just raw gameplay with only minor cuts to remove temporary assets and menus.
