Koei Tecmo America and Team Ninja have announced that the Dead or Alive 6 World Championship will start next month. The World Championship is a global esports competition with qualifiers across the US, Europe, and Asia, with the top players from each region taking part in the final round held in Japan. The winning prize is the equivalent of ¥ 10,000,000 JPY in total cash and prizes.

The torunaments will kick off on April 20, 2019 in Lyon, France at The Mixup. The series will continue throughout the year as players compete over the 16 total spots in the Dead or Alive 6 World Championship Finals.
Players can earn ranking points based on their tournament performance, which allows them to be ranked on the official DOA6WC leaderboard. At the end of the tournament, the top 16 players will make it to the Finals. 11 of those players will be chosen from the three regional leaderboards – the top 5 players from the US, the top 3 players from Asia, and the top 3 players from Europe. Three of the remaining qualifying spots will be chosen by winners of offline Fatal Match events, with the final two spots open at the DOA6WC Last Chance Qualifier held at the Dead or Alive festival later this year.
Key tournament stops in the United States include the CEO 2019 Fighting Game Championships in Florida (June 28-30, 2019), Summer Jam 13 in Philadelphia (August 30 through September 1, 2019), Kumite in Texas 2019 (September 13-15, 2019), and The East Coast Throwdown in New Jersey (October 18-20, 2019).
