Honor through perseverance. Legacy through diversity. IDW Publishing is proud to present the epic story of one of history’s greatest warriors and finest poets: Antar the Black Knight. A despised camel driver born of an African slave mother and an Arab Noble father, Antar proves that heroes are made by embracing who we are and dreaming about what we can become. In Shops: Apr 18, 2018

But since then…nothing. Not even the letterer knows what’s going on.

Thomas Mauer there, who once upon a time lettered my own Flying Friar graphic novella, knew what was going on. That’s editor Sohaib Awan of Jabal Entertainment, who produced the comic for IDW, namechecked there.

This week, publishers IDW Entertainment cancelled all retailer orders for the solicited issues 1 to 5. No more details… we have some inquries out there, we’ll let you know what we hear.

Nnedi Okorafor is currently writing Shuri for Marvel and LaGuardia from Berger Books/Dark Horse and seemingly not talking about Antar online.

Here’s what would have been…

At twenty years of age, Antar is one of his tribe’s best fighters-in-training. However, his father still won’t acknowledge him as his son, nor will he set him or his mother free. Antar realizes that taking matters into his own hands will require the ultimate sacrifice-losing who he is and whom he wishes to be.
