J.K. Simmons Reprises J. Jonah Jameson for 'Avengers' Spoof

One of the best comic book film castings of all time is J.K. Simmons as newspaper mogul J. Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy for Sony, but thanks to Lights, Camera, Pod, we see him come alive again in animated form.

Despite the trilogy pre-dating the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the scene asks "What if Jameson exists in the MCU and do during the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame?"

Simmons encapsulates Jamesons' abrasive and snide mannerisms so well, the character has yet made another live-action film appearance since 2007's Spider-Man 3. Dabbling into spoiler territory since Jameson doesn't exist in the MCU at the moment since Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is still in high school and not working for Jameson's Daily Bugle. In the video, Simmons launches into a Jameson tirade gathering the "troops" together to cover the mass disintegration at the end of Infinity War before being told Parker was among the dusted. He proceeds to fire him posthumously.

I'm begging Marvel Studios and Sony to bringing Simmons home in the role he was born to play for Spider-Man: Far From Home. With Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man reboots, the stories opted for Parker to be an intern at Oscorp and the adolescent take in the MCU rebooted version of the Webhead.

Simmons found another beloved character in Commissioner James Gordon for the DC Extended Universe for Justice League. Unfortunately with Ben Affleck's departure from playing Batman and little knowledge of Matt Reeves' take on "The Caped Crusader", no one knows anything even if Gordon will be used or if Warner Bros. decides to recast the role.

Simmons remains optimistic about playing the character again speaking to Entertainment Tonight about what little he does know.

"I wish I had something to offer, although, if I actually did know more than I do, they probably would shoot me if I told you. I know nothing. I know that I signed up to do three movies, potentially, and I hope there are gonna be two more. It has been in and around and through, whether it be Batman or Justice League or another Suicide Squad, or where Commissioner Gordon might end up appearing again, I'm open to it. I'm not sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring in the meantime, but I hope there's more of that in the future. If the Batphone rings, I'm there."

Do you believe Simmons pulls double-duty as Jameson and Gordon?
