Tauntaun Riders for Star Wars: Legion Smell Better on the Outside

Note- I am deeply sorry, I couldn’t help the joke in the title. One does not simply write about tauntauns and not comment on their smell. My editor has been alerted, and I accept my fate gladly.

Another cool new release from Fantasy Flight Games for Star Wars: Legion! Rebel players can look forward to the Tauntaun Riders Unit Expansion, bringing some nimble speed and scouting prowess to the battlefield!

Forced to the fringes of the galaxy by the relentless pursuit of the Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance must establish bases on remote planets far from the gaze of Darth Vader and his feared Death Squadron. Though this might take them to barren worlds like the frigid wastes of Hoth, the Rebels often use their ingenuity to turn these less-than-ideal conditions into an advantage. Using the local fauna to bolster their forces, they can easily traverse a planet’s surface and—in some instances—even use these beasts to fight the Empire.

This was another one of those units that I didn’t know I wanted until I saw it; I really don’t want to be limited with unit choices that are stuck to a certain “look”, like cold weather gear. But who’s to say tauntauns have to be snow camouflaged? Maybe there are tauntauns that fit in on the tundra.

I don’t know. I just want to paint them!

Regardless, the models look fantastic, and will be a lot of fun to see charging across the table!

Seeing these troops makes me wonder if we’re going to see a Dewback for the Imperial faction soon; if so, Bleeding Cool is going to need to hire a new writer to cover table top games, because I will literally explode. I’m talking Exploding Head Guy from Scanners kind of explode.

The tauntauns have pretty good melee combat stats, can ram opponents, and don’t suffer from the fragility inherent in speeders. The mounted troopers are armed with DL-44 blaster pistols, giving them two red attack dice. The tauntauns also use the full  three-speed movement tool, so they are going to get across a table quickly!

The Tauntaun Riders Unit Expansion will be released during the second quarter of 2019, and is available for pre-order from your favorite game store now!
