Who had this to say:

Nothing came close to DOOMSDAY CLOCK sales, next closest was Batman and that was a distant #2. Luckily the idiotic POINT numbering on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #16.HU (the unauthorized sequel to Steve Ditko's Amazing Spider-Man) did not turn off regular readers like it has in the past. Not sure what service MARVEL thinks they are providing my muddying the waters like this.

VERY Solid week with some GREAT comics for everyone – Immortal Hulk keeps climbing the sales charts (deservedly so) – and while Jason Aarons work on CONAN THE BARBARIAN is great – the sub-standard level of artwork that Marvel will throw on a book really brought the quality down for this issue.

I also did not realize that Cosmic Ghost Rider destorys the Marvel Universe would be a poorly written gag book. Don't know what I was thinking, I guess Cosmic Ghost Rider=Donny Cates was on my mind. Either way this one tanked.

Doomsday Clock took the top spot, barely beating out Batman #66. It's always nice when a new issue of Doomsday Clock (finally) comes out, because it's the only time I ever get to report something other than a bat-book was our top seller. Amazing Spider-Man #16.HU did really well, though our numbers are more of an estimate than anything, considering it's tricky to properly track issues with that stunted numbering. Overall, it was a good week with a lot of big titles, but the weather had a noticeable effect on foot-traffic, and it seemed to keep most of our Walking Dead crowd at home, otherwise I suspect it would have performed a little bit better. The one title that really stunk it up was Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History #1- Seems like people are over that gimmick.

Doomsday Clock made it in and was easily the number one selling book of the week. Batman took quite the fall. Batman's current dream story arc is being drawn out way too long. Amazing Spiderman 16.HU even beat it. Conan is still doing very well. Young Justice is very much a hit with readership.

This week had a truckload of heavy-hitter titles, especially for DC. Our top three sellers were comprised of two DC flagships -BATMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE- and a DC mega-event with DOOMSDAY CLOCK. CLOCK's rather extreme release tardiness doesn't seem to have done much damage to its momentum.

Marvel wasn't exactly slouching this week either: we had a "bonus" issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, another installment of UNCANNY X-MEN, as well as their pound-for-pound best book IMMORTAL HULK.

Pleasantly, we've got a non-Marvel or DC title on the list this week with DIE – a personal favorite of mine.
Paper Girls #26 took the cake this week! Brian K. Vaughn comics are good comics. Grant Morrison's Green Lantern made the list this week as well as the fantastic Die, which continues to make the top 10 time after time.

  • Batman #635 VF $90
