Ben Affleck Talks the Unused Script for The Batman

For the better part of a year, there was endless speculation about whether or not Ben Affleck was going to continue to play Batman. There were rumors going around that he wasn't happy in the role and then on the 15th of last month Affleck formally announced that he was done playing Bruce Wayne. No one was really surprised considering the rumors but Affleck went from having his own solo movie that he was writing, directing, and starring to leaving the entire universe. Affleck recently spoke to IGN about his new movie Triple Frontier and was asked about the unused script.

"That was part of the problem," admitted Affleck candidly. "We worked on the script, I was trying to figure out how to crack it, and I was never happy enough with it where I thought it was worth going out and making it because I just didn't want to do a version that I wasn't really excited by, so I still don't know."

At the end of the day the why doesn't really matter now that Affleck is gone. It's going to be interesting to see how DC decides to move forward with the Dark Knight now. Aquaman is proof that they don't need Batman to make a billion dollars at the box office and there is such a large catalog of DC characters that have never seen the big screen. Do we really need another Batman movie? This seems like a good time to put the character on the backburner for a little while.

Summary:A group of former Special Forces operatives reunite to plan a heist in a sparsely populated multi-border zone of South America. For the first time in their prestigious careers these unsung heroes undertake this dangerous mission for self instead of country. But when events take an unexpected turn and threaten to spiral out of control, their skills, their loyalties and their morals are pushed to a breaking point in an epic battle for survival.

Triple Frontier, directed by J.C. Chandor, stars Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Pedro Pascal, and Adria Arjona. It will receive a limited theatrical release on March 6, 2019, and will stream to Netflix globally on March 13, 2019.
