[Rumor] Disney Planning 'Nightmare Before Christmas' SOMETHING; Sequel, Remake, etc.

This is one of those rumors we're REALLY hoping turns out to be something innocuous; like a theatrical re-release or something like that because we really don't know how we feel about Disney wanting to do "something" The Nightmare Before Christmas.

[Rumor] Disney Planning 'Nightmare Before Christmas' SOMETHING; Sequel, Remake, etc.

According to Movie Hole (who other trusted outlets are quick to point out have been rather credible with their hot tips and reports like this), there has been some chatter at Disney regarding a desire to do "something" new with Nightmare.

Movie Hole suggests that the rumor could center on a possible sequel idea to the Henry Selick-directed stop motion masterpiece. This would be the lesser of two evils- a continuation of the story of Jack Skellington and Sally wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. We could even theoretically get some new songs, maybe even Danny Elfman?

The other possibility per Movie Hole is a live-action adaptation. Considering Disney's obsession with this type of revisits of their classic animated features, this could be the more likely possibility. How would that even work? Would it be a more CGI-heavy "live action", like the upcoming Lion King? Would Tim Burton return for the adaptation? So many questions.

Again, this is still pretty darn deep in rumor territory, and we're kind of hoping (no offense to the original story's reporting) that it turns out to be bogus.

Last year, Disney released a 25th anniversary The Nightmare Before Christmas Blu-Ray, which we highly suggest fans of the film pick up. (We almost thought that maybe this chatter was about a possible re-release, but that seems highly unlikely.)

We'll let you know what we hear about this possible "something".
