James Cameron Addresses Those Rumored Avatar Sequel Titles

Despite being sequels to one of the biggest movies ever, we still don’t know that much about the upcoming sequels to Avatar. Among things we don’t know include the titles of the movies, but there have been some rumors. Back in November, the BBC reported that the titles for the upcoming movies would be Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider, and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa. None of these titles have been confirmed though and some of them sounded like they were made up, but director James Cameron is currently doing press for Alita: Battle Angel so Entertainment Tonight asked him the legitimacy of the titles.

“I can neither confirm nor deny,” the Oscar winner first stated, but when pressed, he followed up by stating, “All right, here’s what I’ll tell ya. Those titles are among titles that are in consideration. And no final decisions have been made yet.”

The first of these sequels is still just under two years away, so there is a good chance we won’t be learning anything until the end of this year. We’ll have to see if all of those titles or just some of them end up panning out in the end.

Avatar 2, directed by James Cameron, stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald. It will be released on December 18th, 2020. Avatar 3 will open December 17th, 2021, Avatar 4 is set of December 20th, 2024, and Avatar 5 will open December 19th, 2025.
