'Modern Family' ABC's Long-Running Sitcom Ending with Upcoming Season 11

This year's Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press event is bringing both good news and bad news for fans of ABC's long-running sitcom Modern Family. Good news in the sense that the popular series will be back (no surprise) for an 11th season. Bad news? That upcoming 11th season will also be the last one for the Emmy Award-winning family comedy–though Deadline Hollywood reports that the season could contain anywhere from 18 to 22 episodes.

In December 2018, the original adult cast had signed on to new deals with 20th Century Fox TV, and then series co-creators/executive producers Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd agreed to a deal for another season. The remaining cast recently signed new deals to return–with reports that negotiations on some of those contracts being finalized close to the arranged TCA announcement time.

Standing as a five-time Emmy winner for Outstanding Comedy Series, Modern Family stars Ed O'Neill as Jay Pritchett, Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy, Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy, Sofia Vergara as Gloria Pritchett, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker, Sarah Hyland as Haley Dunphy, Nolan Gould as Luke Dunphy, Ariel Winter as Alex Dunphy, Rico Rodriguez as Manny Delgado, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons as Lily Tucker-Pritchett, and Jeremy Maguire as Joe Pritchett.
