'Siren' Preview: Is Calvin "The Wolf at the Door" or Do Larger Dangers Loom? [VIDEO]

Fans of Eric Wald and Dean White's mermaid fantasy-action drama Siren had to hit the ground running when the series returned to Freeform last week for its second season. Gone are the days when Ryn (Eline Powell) was the biggest mermaid "problem" facing Bristol Cove – and in particular, Ben (Alex Roe) and Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola). Now, Ryn is leader and protector of a new pack of mermaids while Ben and Maddie try to keep all of them alive – and deal with some "relationship" issues of their own.

As you can see from the promo and preview below, that's not going to be easy when Xander (Ian Verdun) learns that the mermaid who killed his father is back in Bristol Cove… while Calvin (Curtis Lum) looks to turn Bristol Cove's mermaid "situation" to his financial advantage:

Siren s02e02 "The Wolf at the Door": Ben, Maddie and Ryn desperately try and keep the newly arrived mermaid pack hidden from the rest of the town, but the new mermaids' quick degradation on land forces them to get them back to the sea unnoticed during the town's Mermaid Beauty Contest. Elaine grows more suspicious of Helen and her connections to their family.
