Oscar Isaac In Talks to Play Duke Leto Atreides for Legendary's 'Dune'

AND FOR THE FATHER….NOTHING.

We've been talking a lot recently about who we'd like to see take on the role of Caladan's Duke Leto Atreides in Denis Villeneuve's upcoming Dune adaptation for Legendary Pictures, and it seems like it may just be Oscar Isaac.

According to Variety, Issac has entered "talks" (read: negotiations) to join the film, where he theoretically will be playing the Duke, father to Paul Atreides.

Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet will be playing Paul, and Rebecca Ferguson will be playing Duke Leto's concubine, the Lady Jessica, Bene Gesserit. Stellan Skarsgard will be playing Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Charlotte Rampling will be playing the Reverend Mother Helen Gauis Mohem, and Dave Bautista will play The Beast Raban.

There are still some super-key roles to be cast–Feyd the Baron's nephew; several of the Atreides men (Duncan, Dr. Yueh, etc.); notable Fremen like Stilgar, Liet, and Chani; and the Paddishaw Emperor Shaddam the IV along with his daughter, Irulan.

The film is reported to start production sometime in the next two months, and we cannot WAAAAAAIT!

As we previously reported, Brian Herbert son of "Dune" author Frank Herbert, has been our best source of information about the film. He'd confirmed that Villeneuve's script for the film was only the "first half" of the book, which lends itself to the notion that plans (within plans) are in the works for more than one film.
