Most of us here at Bleeding Cool play tabletop roleplaying games, and as such, we've had our share of epic triumphs and tragedies.

Tales of our adventures span many games from Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, GURPS, Shadowrun to Pathfinder. On this edition of The Darkside of the Dice, we present to you Dante's Infero.

Dante's Inferno

I was in a Pathfinder campaign called Wrath of the Righteous with a few friends of mine I knew from college and we had an unexpected party wipe, from within.

I don't quite remember who the others played as. There were at least a cleric, wizard, and druid in the party. Perhaps I blocked out those details from my mind. I think I was playing a monk.

One day, our party was exploring the remains of a fortress taken over by demons when someone read some text. Turned out it was a trap and the will save critically failed. The character's alignment went from chaotic good to chaotic evil leaving the adventurer paranoid.

Over the course of the next few days, the food was destroyed and the plan was in motion. After a house was summoned, one-by-one party members were picked off after giving consent to the party's…wizard.

Turned out Dante was manipulated into thinking his party was out to kill him. He isolated and tricked each party member to provide consent to him after cast Marionette Possession in secret. He took control of each character and forced everyone to commit suicide without any knowledge to what happened to the other characters.

Following the carnage, Dante teleported away. The dungeon master allowed all the victims the option to be revived or roll new characters. Half the party, still disgusted on what took place, decided to roll new characters.

Suffice it to say, we never finished the Paizo campaign.

Have an epic tabletop story you would like to share? Sound off.
