So What Does Richard Schiff Have to Say About ‘The West Wing’ Reboot?

Could 2019 be the year of The West Wing reboot? The current political climate would most definitely lend to plenty of material for series creator Aaron Sorkin to pull from. Not to mention, a revisit of the critically acclaimed series seems to be on everyone’s mind recently, including some of the main cast.

Like Richard Schiff, who played White House Communications Director Toby Ziegler across the NBC series’ 7 seasons, winning an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor.

Here’s what he had to say during a stop by the Popcorn Talk Network’s “Could Could Never Be” series:

“Aaron has said he wanted it to happen. Might go with a new administration, in which case, you know, some of us might show up as consultants…it makes no sense, maybe one or two of us to be in the White House. I’ve pitched it to Aaron. He loved it.

I don’t think it should be in the White House. I think that’s overcooked. My image of a show in the White House now is something like House of Cards, which is more apropos for the current administration — and Veep.

You know, you combine Veep and House of Cards and you got, you got this administration. It’s a great idea…Where does politics really happen? And that’s the question. And especially in this era where there’s such an excitement in the grassroots level and on the local level, and, and it really all happens in the state level.”

Okay so, get on that, folks. Let’s get our The West Wing reboot/revisit/continuation going RIGHT NOW.

About Mary Anne Butler

Bleeding Cool News Editor Mary Anne Butler (Mab, for short) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a presence at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always).

Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence.

Though she be but little, she is fierce. #MabTheProfessional
