Universal Releases Another New Character Trailer and Poster for The Secret Life of Pets 2

The Secret Life of Pets was one of those movies that seemed to come out of nowhere but once you thought about it the success made total sense. Released in July of 2016 the first movie is from Illumination the animation studio that has made their mark with the Despicable Me and Minions movies. That kind of built-in fanbase, the people who like the Minions really tend to like the Minions, and a great premise meant that the movie did extremely well at the box office. It brought in almost $900 million worldwide so a sequel was not exactly a surprise.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 was originally slated for a July 3, 2018 release but then the news about star Louis C.K. being the worst came out and Universal and Illumination wisely delayed the project by a year. Now, veteran comedy actor Patton Oswalt replacing C.K the marketing for the summer release has begun. This marketing has largely focused on character trailer and posters and they released a new one today. Tiffany Haddish is one of the new cast members and this trailer, poster, and image we meet her character; a Shih Tzu named Daisy.

One of the things that made the first movie work was it nailed the little mannerisms that we see from our fur babies on a daily basis. It very much looks like this sequel is going to continue this trend. Good dogs.

The Secret Life of Pets 2, directed by Chris Renaud, stars Patton Oswalt, Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey, and Albert Brooks. It will be released on June 7, 2019.
