The Effect of Batman: Damned #1 on the Comics Industry, in BBC 4's A Year In The Life Of A Year

Last night, Rhys Thomas presented his look back at 2018 on BBC Four, A Year In The Life Of A Year. This included a mashup between Paddington 2 and A Very English Scandal, which had the same actors as protagonist and antagonist, and saw Paddington in the dock talking about jars of vaseline, Derek Jacobi reading Trainspotting on CBeebies' Jackanory storytelling slot, a non-existent Game Of Thrones ripoff called Gods And Warriors (or was that Britannia?)

But we also get a mention of a certain Batman: Damned and how it affected the rest of the comic book industry…

Now in its third year, Rhys Thomas's hit spoof end-of-the-year show moves to BBC Two. The Brian Pern creator and Fast Show actor seamlessly re-edits film and television footage from 2018 to create a hilarious and very silly take on the year's cultural events, entertainment smashes and other things. With surprise special guests including Sir Derek Jacobi, Simon Day, Lucy Montgomery and Tony Way.
