Tetsuya Nomura Issues Twitter Statement on Kingdom Hearts III Leak

After footage from Kingdom Hearts III was leaked out earlier this week, the game's director Tetsuya Nomura decided to address the issue. If you don't already know, some copies of the game gave already somehow leaked out into the marketplace. Way before marketing, media, and other influences were due to get their copies. And with that came screenshots and other footage of the game that was being passed around on social media and other sites that wouldn't immediately take it down due to copyrights. Most media outlets only showed the screenshots of the Xbox One packaging, because none of us like to be sued by Square Enix or Disney. As a result of this, Nomura had to address the situation with this tweet.

We're aware that a small portion of Kingdom Hearts III has been circulating online before its official release. We are also aware as to how this has all happened. We're sorry to see this caused concern amongst our fans who are excited for the release.

The whole team has been working together since yesterday night (Japan time) to investigate what we can do to better this situation, but first we would like to ask that you do not share these videos.

The game's epilogue and secret movie, which are the biggest spoilers in this game, are planned to be released at a later date just in case, so they will not be shown before the game's release.

We want everyone to be able to equally experience the full game after its release, so we ask for your continued support on this matter.

We're also very grateful that our fans have been warning each other already about the spoilers. Thank you very much.

We're one month out from the release. Let's enjoy the game together when it releases on January 29, 2019.

– Director Tetsuya Nomura

With Kingdom Hearts III still six weeks out and not even the final promotion for the game released to consumers, it does feel like an unnecessary blow to the company. But at the same time, if you're a KH3 fan, we're fairly sure this didn't sway you from your purchasing choice. If anything, it's probably made those who checked out the footage more curious than before. We are rather interested to learn how these found their way to the market, as we're sure someone will leak that info out next week.
