A few hours ago, Bleeding Cool pointed out that DC Comics had cancelled the remaining issues of the title Border Town in light of allegations made against its writer Eric S Esquivel.
An hour ago, DC Comics made it official, contacting retailers, telling them that Border Town #5 and #6 would no longer be published.
We pointed out that DC had pulled all previous issues from Diamond Comic Distributors’ system. And DC Comics have told retailers that all copies they have ordered will be made returnable from January 2nd. People who have bought copies who wish to return them should talk to their retailers.
Retailers, please note that DC is cancelling all orders for BORDER TOWN #5 (NOV180418) and 6 (DEC180542). These issues will not be resolicited.
In addition, the issues listed below will be made returnable beginning January 2:
BORDER TOWN #1 (JUL180599 – JUL180600)
BORDER TOWN #1 Second Printing (JUL189255)
BORDER TOWN #2 (AUG180508)
BORDER TOWN #3 (SEP180458)
BORDER TOWN #4 (OCT180489)
Although how many retailers will want to return unsold – or even sold – copies is unknown. It may be distasteful, but last week copies were selling on eBay for cover price or below, but as of today people have sold copies for up to $10.
We have also been told that Esquivel will be issuing a statement some point later today.
