The debut issue of explosive publisher BOOM! Studios’ Buffy the Vampire Slayer reimagining may have slid back 2 weeks on the release schedule, but the hype train continues to chug along with BOOM! revealing a new cover for Buffy the Vampire Slayer #3 by horror artist Scott Buoncristiano. The cover is a tribute to Hush, the fan-favorite Season 4 episode of the television show.

In the press release, BOOM! Executive Editor Jeanine Schaefer said of the cover and the episode:

Some episodes of Buffy make you sad or happy or excited or maybe even terrified. But ‘Hush’ made you feel all of them at the same time and it’s one of the reasons it remains a high watermark for storytelling. Scott Buoncristiano’s cover conjures up that emotional stake to the heart perfectly on this cover, as we continue our tribute the best episodes of Buffy.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #3 is set for release on March 13th and should be solicited this month. Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 is now hitting stores on January 23rd, with a final order cutoff of December 31st.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1
(W) Jordie Bellaire (A) Dan Mora (CA) Taylor, Matt
• Go back to the beginning as the critically acclaimed pop culture phenomenon Buffy The Vampire Slayer is reimagined under the guidance of series creator Joss Whedon.
• This is the Buffy Summers you know, who wants what every average teenager wants: friends at her new school, decent grades, and to escape her imposed destiny as the next in a long line of vampire slayers tasked with defeating the forces of evil.
• But her world looks a lot more like the one outside your window, as Eisner Award-Nominated writer Jordie Bellaire (Redlands) and Russ Manning Award-Winner Dan Mora (Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers) bring Buffy into a new era with new challenges, new friends…and a few enemies you might already recognize. But the more things change, the more they stay the same, as the Gang faces brand new Big Bads, and the threat lurking beneath the perfectly manicured exterior of Sunnydale High confirms what every teenager has always known: high school truly is hell.

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
