Gary Frank Redraws Dave Gibbons' Dr Manhattan for Doomsday Clock – But Puts Underwear On Him

Here is Gary Frank's art from the DC Nation page promoting the upcoming issue of the unauthorised sequel to Watchmen, Doomsday Clock #8.

It seems to be a redrawing of a famous orign scene from Watchmen #4 by Dave Gibbons with something… removed.

Bleeding Cool pointed out that DC Comics published Doomsday Clock #7 a week after they published Batman Damned #1.

Damned #1 caused much amusement to readers – and much embarrassment to DC Comics – after we revealed that Bruce Wayne appeared inside the pages in all his glory. This was followed by a swift shutdown from DC Comics, changing the digital copy to remove any Batawag trace, refusing to reprint the comic at all, and delaying Batman Damned #2 so that four pages could be repainted by Lee Bermejo to hide any further appearances of the Batpole. But in Doomsday Clock #7, Dr Manhattan was free to appear au naturel, even with Batman and Superman (and the Joker) watching on.

When the fuss about Batman Damned #1 hit, Doomsday Clock #7 was already in the system, and had already been printed. Could it be that for #8 there have been some changes made to Doomsday Clock as well? After all it's a lot easier to just draw a pair of pants on the man… hattan.

Doomsday Clock #8 will be published in a week And we'll see just how much it has redrawn that origin. Either way I am sure I will enjoy it as much as I have the previous issues…
