'The Crown': Recreating Prince Charles' 1969 Investiture Ceremony in S3

One of our favorite Netflix series, The Crown, will be returning soon for their third season, complete with a new cast.

A new behind the scenes image was just released from the production, showing a recreation of Prince Charles' Investiture Ceremony from 1969. Olivia Coleman has taken over from Emmy winning actress Claire Foy as Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and Josh O'Connor will be playing adult Prince Charles.

It's pretty impressive in it's historical authenticity, as this side by side shows.

This particular Investiture Ceremony (defined as a "formal ceremony of conferring the authority and symbols of high office") was when Prince Charles became the Prince of Wales, and gives us an idea of the timeline of season 3.

We do know that we'll be seeing Camilla Parker Bowles this season (played by Emerald Fennell), as well as Diana Spencer, who has not been officially cast yet. Outlander's Tobias Menzies is taking over as Prince Phillip from Matt Smith, Helena Bonham Carter will be playing Princess Margaret (taking over from Vanessa Kirby), and Ben Daniels will be taking over for Matthew Goode as Antony Armstrong-Jones (Lord Snowdon, husband of Princess Margaret).

The Crown is expected to return sometime in 2019.
