Thank FOC It's Friday #3 – FOC'ing Is Your Superpower

Welcome to Thank FOC It's Friday, a weekly mailing list, similar to The Daily LITG, but every Friday and planned to coincide and cover the demands of Final Order Cut Off. The date when retailers have a last chance to amend their advance orders for comic books without penalty. A last chance for publishers to promote books while orders can still be added. And a time for credits to be amends, new covers to be revealed and a final push given. This is an attempt to sift through them all and find the most relevant items.

You can sign up here or with the form at the bottom.

Now, many retailers will know all this. But some things may slip through even the most diligent retailer's attention, like ffffff. And if nothing else, it may be useful to try for a one-stop shop that may start some thoughts, even if it doesn't finish them.

Black Mask has Emmie-X: All Systems Go #1 for FOC this week. Now Black Mask surprise-published a CALEXIT one-shot at  San Diego Comic Con to raise money for immigrant families separated at the border. It was only intended to be a single issue but the lead character of Emmie became very popular so she is getting her own mini-series starting in December. An example of how popular she became: Black Mask hosted political organizing group INDIVISIBLE at San Diego Comic Con to run voter registration on the showfloor. The INDIVISIBLE volunteers and organizers all read CALEXIT and they loved Emmie so much that after SDCC they made Emmie the face of their door-knocking/get-out-the- vote efforts in California. And that "Voting Is My Superpower" campaign with Emmie representing may have helped flip several California House of Representatives seats in last week's midterms. Here is the campaign art (Emmie illustration by Emily Pearson of The Wilds and Snap Flash Hustle).

The Black Hammer movie news is fresh but so is this Black Hammer: Cthu-Louise oneshot for the franchise by Jeff Lemire and Emi Lenox. Worth a double check.

Batman Who Laughs #1 by Snyder and Jock is FOC'ong this week. Just saying. And Superman #6 looks like we may have the first on panel appearance of the new look Jonathan Kent.

IDW have a Star Trek Waypoint Annual with all the crews across time – and a new From Hell Master Edition #2.

How did Bitter Root do for you this week? The second issue is being FOC'ed alongside the second print of the first. Similar story with Outer Darkness. Oh and Spawn is killing everyone for a second time…

Captain America #6 should follow on from the cliffhanger of #5, might want to check that.  Extermination #5 should end with the Original 5 returning home, given their absence in Uncanny. But how will they get out of that previous cliffhanger? We have some theories… worth upping your orders for? Fantastic Four #5 is getting more pages, promising 60 pages of Dan Slott-written story, But it is now $7.99. Too much of a sticker shock? Lots of party qualifications and variants for the wedding day between Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters.

It has been delayed but the final issue of The Life Of Captain Marvel #5 is set to redefine the character ahead of the movie, alongside the second print of #4. And the trade paperback of the series. All FOC at once. Colbert fans might want Daniel Kibblesmith's all ages take on Captain Marvel and the Frost Giants too.

There's a new Superior Spider-Man as Spider-Geddon comes to an end and a new X-Force too. And the launch of Dynamite's Vampirella/Reanimator crossover.

Oh and there's lots of Christmas stuff, hitting the week before the big day. The Hellboy Winter Special included new work from Ba and Moon, Archie's Christmas Spectacular with Dan Parent, there's a Red Sonja Holiday Special, A Grimm Fairy Tales Holiday Special, Marvel's Seasons Beatings.

What's on your FOC?
