According to a report by IGN, the concurrent player record for Fortnite has now reached 8 million players. To be specific, Fortnite's massive popularity has lead to concurrent player counts of over 8.3 million. Yes, 8.3 million people have been playing Fortnite at the exact same time. The record is simply mind-blowing.

Yeah, we knew Fortnite was big, but damn. That machine just is not slowing down at all.

From IGN:

Following the rollout of Fortnite's Korea-only challenges this week, that has players visiting internet cafes, Epic Games Korea's Sung Chul Park revealed the number in an interview with Inven (via VG247).

It's an astonishing achievement, particularly when you remember that, back in February, the game hit an all-time high of 3.4 million concurrent players. At that time, it caused some serious server problems for Epic – it seems that the developer's invested in some backup tech since then.

Bear in mind that, this time last year, Fortnite had managed to amass over 7 million players in total, never mind playing at the same time.

Since last year, the game has been the subject of numerous crossovers including the recent NFL skins and an Infinity War tie-in encounter with Thanos. With the mobile version's release on Android this fall, it really seems as if the game will only grow from here.
