Survivors’ Club: CW Adapting DC-Vertigo Horror Comic to Series

What if there were very real reasons to be afraid of summer camps, haunted houses, porcelain dolls, and other trappings of film horror? What if the people who survived those horrors – individuals who have found each other online – were the only ones who could stop the horrors still to come?

DC Comics/Vertigo

That’s the premise behind the CW‘s adapatation of Survivors’ Club, a drama series based on the DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint comic from writers Lauren Beukes, Dale Halverson, and writer/artist Ryan Kelly. Additional artwork was supplied by Iñaki Miranda, with inkwork from Mark Farmer, colors by Eva de la Cruz, and lettering by Clem Robins. Famed comic book artist Bill Sienkiewicz supplied the cover artwork.

Written by Jared Frieder (MTV’s Sweet/Vicious), Survivors’ Club is set in a world where horror franchise monsters are real – where twins Jason and Jennifer barely survived a demonic childhood possession that claimed their mother’s life and fractured their bond. Ten years later, when a new evil force awakens, the siblings join forces with other teen survivors to combat the literal and metaphorical monsters that haunt them. Frieder and veteran producer Len Goldstein (Hart of Dixie) will executive produce, produced through Warner Bros. TV.

Originally published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint beginning October 2015, here’s a look at Survivors’ Club:

One was possessed by a poltergeist. Another was trapped in a haunted house. A third had a killer doll. Ever wonder what happened to these children of the 1980s? Find out in Survivors’ Club, a new series co-written by renowned horror novelist Lauren Beukes and award-winning cover designer and illustrator Dale Halverson, with art by Ryan Kelly (Northlanders).

Having found each other over the internet, six grown-up survivors are drawn together by the horrors they experienced in 1987 when a rash of occult events occurred around the world–with fatal results. Now, there are indications that it may be happening all over again. Is it possible that these six aren’t just survivors–but were chosen for their fates?
