Ubisoft to Remove Controversial Images from Rainbow Six Siege

Ubisoft to Remove Controversial Images from Rainbow Six Siege

Posted by November 4, 2018 Comment

In a move that we’re sure won’t annoy and anger anyone in the Rainbow Six Siege community, Ubisoft had decided to change some of the game’s imagery. According to the latest developer blog, the company is currently trying to expand the game into Asian territories. Because of that, there’s a lot of imagery in the game that would be flagged as controversial and inappropriate and would never pass an approval board to be allowed for purchase. So rather than creating a special build for certain countries, the company is going in and changing the designs of a few areas, as you can see below, to have a uniform look for the game that will be acceptable in every territory.

We have some of the changes explained below, but the key thing they wanted to get across is that this is simply a visual change and none of the core the gameplay has been affected. But, let’s be honest, that’s not gonna stop the community from raging about it, which they’re already doing in droves on Reddit.

WE WANT TO STREAMLINE OUR PRODUCTION TIME TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY

By maintaining a single build, we are able to reduce the duplication of work on the development side. This will allow us to be more agile as a development team, and address issues more quickly.

WE WANT TO BE FUTURE PROOF

Having the same people working on a singular global version of the game ensures we only need to do the work once. In addition, we can guarantee that any future changes are aligned with the global regulations we are working towards.

WE WILL NOT CHANGE THE CORE OF THE GAME

We have a commitment to ensure that the Rainbow Six Siege experience remains true to its roots. We are adjusting art and visuals, but are not compromising what makes Rainbow Six Siege the game you know today.
