The three part Arrowverse crossed, titled Elseworlds, is shaping up to be pretty insane. We’re still a little over a month away from the episodes dropping and while we have a ton of casting and announced characters we don’t know a lot about what the plot is going to be. We know that Superman is set to return and we’re finally getting introduced to Lois Lane. Some Batman mythology is coming into play with the introduction of more Arkham elements, Nora Fries, Batwoman and the John Wesley Shipp version of speedster. Another one of the elements being introduced is The Monitor. Entertainment Weekly has a first look at the character all suited up as played by Designated Survivor alumni LaMonica Garrett.
“LaMonica was ridiculous, like seeing him in his suit, he’s just a monster,” said Grant Gustin. “He’s like an absolute unit. He doesn’t have to do a lot with his performance. He’s so intimidating with just these subtleties, so that’s dope.”
The DCTV shows have somehow managed to find a way to make the modern public understand the concept of the multi-verse and The Monitor is another element of that concept. The Monitor is exactly what he sounds like; a being tasked with monitoring the various multi-verse. At the moment we only know of the singular Monitor, Mar-Novu, but there is an entire organization in the comics. As for how this character plays into this crossover no one is really sure. We already know that this story will switch things up a lot, that’s the entire fun of Elseworlds stories, but we’ll have to see how involved this being is.
The three-night crossover begins on Sunday, December 9th with The Flash at 8 p.m. followed by Arrow on Monday, December 10th at 8 p.m. and wrapping up on Tuesday, December 11th at 8 p.m. on Supergirl.
