DC Comics has revealed a preview of Nightwing #50, otherwise known as the prequel to Scott Lobdell’s upcoming epic Nightwing run. This story takes place after the now Dickless Nightwing has recovered from the gun shot to the head he suffered in Batman #55.
A press release contains more details:
Things haven’t been easy for the Bat-Family lately, but things took a turn for the truly chilling two weeks ago when Nightwing was shot in the head by KGBeast in the pages of BATMAN #55. Why? We don’t know.
Not knowing what they’re doing is something we’ve always suspected DC Comics of being guilty of.
But we do have our first idea of what life after the gunshot is like for Dick Grayson thanks to our exclusive first look at this week’s extra-sized NIGHTWING #50. Sporting a newly shaved head and brutal-looking scar, Dick Grayson survived the shot, but not without some serious brain trauma. It’s clear Dick remembers how to fight and still harbors his thirst for justice, but will he ever be Nightwing again? Can he ever be Nightwing again?
It’s the kind of question that can only be answered by a super-mega-crossover event, we imagine.
Nightwing #50 also marks writer Ben Percy’s final issue on the book, and he’s certainly leaving things in an exciting place. While our preview doesn’t answer burning questions about how things are between Dick and his allies like Bruce, Babs and the Titans, let alone what’s going to happen with the Dark Web, it shows us that Percy certainly knows how to leave with us wanting more!
Sure, but he had the advantage of people knowing Scott Lobdell is taking over after he leaves.
Check out the preview below, and look for Nightwing #50 in stores tomorrow.

“Knight Terrors” begins here! The big issue #50 kicks off an epic four-part story that brings together critical moments of fear and doubt from the past and the present. A young Dick Grayson hopes to escape the shadow of the Bat and earn the title of Nightwing, while an older Dick Grayson must deal with a blow he did not see coming. A common enemy unites the timelines: the Scarecrow, as you’ve never seen him before! This story goes deep into the mythology and nightmarish development of Dr. Jonathan Crane.
