Comixology Bestseller List, 21st September 2018 – So Something With Nightwing Happened This Week Too

Welcome to the Comixology Bestseller list, your guide to see how well your favorite titles are selling digitally. Every week I'll post the ranking of every new title, plus a ranking of the best selling volumes & graphic novels. As always, I hope you find it interesting and informative.

Alright, Batman and Justice League take the top 2 spots. No surprise there. Mister Miracle lands at No. 3, and Batman: Damned debuts at No. 4, hitting the same high note as Batman: White Knight. (Probably would've done even better uncensored, just saying). Wow, DC is already up 4-0. As long as Marvel doesn't fill up the next 6 spots, they'll finally win.

So yeah, Marvel took the the next 6 spots. Marvel wins the Top 10 this week 6-4. DC continues its winless streak.

"Wait! How is that fair?" you're probably screaming right now. Well, you have point. Obviously the top spots are more valuable than the bottom ones, so even though we don't have the sales numbers, it's a likely possibility that the 4 DC issues outsold the remaining 6 Marvel issues. So I'll admit it: the weekly Top 10 contest is just like the electoral college, and Batman and Justice League are California and New York.

But I refuse to change the rules of this proud tradition I made up several months ago. Besides, blame evolution for giving us ten fingers, and making ten the base of our numerical system. If we had six fingers, DC would be winning this week.

Harley Quinn just hit a milestone with her 50th issue, and surprisingly, it didn't get a boost. (It actually did worse, but we can chalk that up to a heavy week). I've always wondered why this book does so poorly on digital. It's still shipping twice a month, so it obviously doesn't have a problem in stores. Looking at last month's Diamond charts, both issues ranked higher than Nightwing, Green Lanterns, Supergirl and The Terrifics.

I've always thought it was because digital readers didn't have a funny bone. When I first starting keeping track of digital sales, Harley Quinn would often be in the high-to-mid 30s right with Deadpool and Gwenpool. Could it be digital readers are on the slightly more serious side, and don't favor the zany, off the wall, random humor books?

Nope. Deadpool got a boost with Fresh Start and West Coast Avengers is No. 12 this week, blowing another theory of mine out of the water. Every time I think I have the digital audience figured out, they end up proving me wrong.
