WWE Superstar and one half of the Iconics, Peyton Royce, responded on Twitter to a clip of Dave Meltzer‘s Wrestling Observer Radio Show in which the pro wrestling journalist commented on her attractiveness, saying that Royce was more attractive when she was in WWE developmental brand NXT and that she was “a lot lighter” back then.

“So what would you have me do Dave… starve myself? 🤯🤯🤯,” Royce responded. “This is how nightmares for young women start. The females in your life must be proud.”

Here’s a transcript of what Meltzer and co-host Bryan Alvarez said in the clip:

Meltzer: I thought like that they had like a cool act in NXT, and on the main roster, I don’t get a thing out of them. I don’t think their promos are particularly good. Their wrestling isn’t good. I think Peyton Royce’s transformation to look more attractive… I don’t know. I don’t want to say, but I don’t think that–

Alvarez: She was more attractive in NXT?

Meltzer: I thought so. Yes. To me, yes. I would say so. That’s neither here nor there, but, um–

Alvarez: No one’s saying she’s unattractive by the way, everybody.

Meltzer: I know. No shit. I didn’t say it at all. But I don’t think, like, she doesn’t stand out to me. When she was in NXT, she did.

Alvarez: Well, one thing I’ve noticed about NXT and the main roster–

Meltzer: She was a lot lighter.

And here’s Royce’s response, which has been retweeted by colleagues like Tyler Breeze and Titus O’Neil:

While others chimed in:

As the story blew up, Meltzer took to Twitter to apologize:

We’ll give that apology *1/2.

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
