Lisa Bloom is an American civil rights attorney who both founded, and owns, the Bloom Firm, a twelve-attorney civil rights law firm in Los Angeles. She is known for successfully representing clients including Mischa Barton. She also represented a group of women whose sexual harassment claims precipitated the firing of Bill O’Reilly from Fox News. Kathy Griffin has also been a client, though that wasmmore fraught. And she briefly advised Harvey Weinstein after initial allegations were made against him, before resigning.
The cases Lisa Bloom currently appears keen to represent right now are senior-level individuals with cases of sexual harassment against their employers or ex-employers, preferably in the media.
After making enquiries, Ms Bloom has confirmed to Bleeding Cool that she is indeed currently representing an executive who was until recently in the employ of IDW in San Diego. Bloom would make no further comment as to the particulars of the matter at this time.
It might seem unusual for someone with Lisa’s profile to be involved representing someone formerly in the employ of a comic book company. But as well as publish comics including Transformers, GI Joe, My Little Pony, Ghostbusters and The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, IDW is also behind TV hits including Wynonna Earp, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and the upcoming Locke & Key which raised their profile significantly.
IDW could not be reached for comment. We expect to hear more in the coming week.
Declaration of interest: A number of years ago, I wrote the Doctor Who comic ‘Room With A Deja View’ and the trading card set Weapons Of Mass Distraction, both published by IDW.
