HBO Greenlights Zendaya Teen Drama Series 'Euphoria' from EPs Drake and Future the Prince
HBO has given a series order for Sam Levinson's (The Wizard of Lies) teen drama Euphoria, starring Spider-Man: Homecoming's Zendaya. Adapted from the Israeli series of the same name, the project is described as the story of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship all told by a lying, drug-addicted 17-year-old girl named Rue (Zendaya). Written by Levinson and with a pilot directed by Augustine Frizzell, the series also lists Drake and DJ/producer Future the Prince as executive producers.
After the series pickup was announced on Monday, Zendaya took to her Twitter and Instagram accounts to tease what viewers can expect:
Euphoria stars Zendaya, Maude Apatow as Lexi, Brian "Astro" Bradley as McKay, Eric Dane as Cal, Alexa Demie as Maddy, Jacob Elordi as Nate, Barbie Ferreira as Kat, Nika King as Leslie, Storm Reid as Gia, Hunter Schafer as Jules, and Sydney Sweeney as Cassie.
Levinson, Drake, and Future the Prince will executive produce alongside original Israeli series creators Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin, Tmira Yardeni, Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Mirit Toovi, Yoram Mokadi and Gary Lennon, with Frizzell co-executive producing and A24 Television producing.
