Nick Fury and Agent Coulson Will Be De-Aged in Captain Marvel

The Ant-Man movies are the ones that are showing off the de-aging technology the most. We saw a younger Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) in Ant-Man, and this time, in Ant-Man and The Wasp, we get to see a de-aged Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer). The technology is pretty close to being flawless, which means the better the tech gets the more likely we are to see movies that take place in earlier time periods. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke to SlashFilm about the de-aging technology and confirmed we're going to see it in the next Marvel movie.

Well, I think having the option is pretty amazing. And I think having the technology and even without spoiling anything, Sam Jackson is shooting a movie for us right now that takes, where he's entirely 25 years younger the whole movie [Captain Marvel]. So that'll certainly be the one–

And Coulson, right?

And Coulson. So that'll be the first one where it's a character for the whole movie, as opposed to a glimpse at a certain period of time. It's the whole movie. So it's possible, assuming that works. It's possible. It's very good when you are starting by the way with somebody like Michelle Pfeiffer or Michael Douglas or for that matter Sam Jackson or Clark Gregg.

Feige makes it sound like if the illusion holds for all of Captain Marvel, we might be seeing more of it in other movies. There is a very large gap in the Marvel universe that could be filled — most of post-World War II up to the '90s. A lot happened in the real world during that time; we have to wonder what was happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Summary: Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will also star Brie Larson, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
