Square Enix is Bringing Star Ocean to Mobile this July

Square Enix has announced that Star Ocean: Anamnesis, a brand-new journey in the popular sci-fi fantasy Star Ocean series, will be coming to North America this July for iOS and Android devices. Star Ocean: Anamnesis sees players lead a squad of heroes across the galaxy.

Players will have the ability to build teams of returning all-star characters from the series, choosing between attackers, sharpshooters, defenders, invokers, and healers to assemble the most powerful crew. Enhanced mobile controls will have users experience the fast-paced real-time combat with 3D graphics, which is surprising coming from a Square Enix mobile property. Most SE mobile games tend to be 2D graphics with turn-based combat, as part of their classic JRPG flare.

Then again, Star Ocean never was a classic JRPG, so that would hardly be fitting for the series.

The mobile game will also have co-op multiplayer, so you can even tackle missions with your friends, if you so choose.

Additionally, iOS users can now register for the official Apple Testflight closed beta to get a preview of the game before launch. Sign up for the iOS beta can be found here.

Meanwhile, pre-registration for the game is available on the official Star Ocean Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as Google Play. Pre-registration will unlock a variety of awards following launch, which are determined by the total number of pre-registrations across all participating channels. Prizes include bubbly iconic series character Welch Vineyard, as well as the cool and collected Faize, originally from Star Ocean: The Last Hope. You can find the full list of prizes (and accompanying pre-registration numbers needed to unlock them) below.
