Jeff Goldblum Is Releasing a New Album for Universal's Decca Label

He's come a long way from his cowboy hat wearin' early days in Buckaroo Banzai, and we're thrilled to report that Jeff Goldblum has recorded an album to be released by Universal's label Decca Records.

If you were unaware, Goldblum has been making music for longer than he's been an actor. His jazz ensemble, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, plays a regular set of shows in Los Angeles during the year when he's not filming.

"As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum," Decca director of A&R Tom Lewis said. "He's a fantastic jazz pianist, a great band leader and just about the loveliest man in the world. His love of jazz is infectious and whenever he plays he makes you feel very happy. If we can take Jeff's music into people's homes then we will be helping, in our own small way, to make the world a happier place."

We can't disagree with that assessment.

Turns out the deal comes from Universal execs catching a performance of Jeff Goldblum with Gregory Porter on an episode of the UK series The Graham Norton Show. The two performed 'Mona Lisa', and apparently the entertainment company liked what they saw and heard.

"I'm so happy to be in cahoots with the wonderful people at Decca, one of the coolest and most prestigious labels of all time.," Goldblum said of the announcement.

No release date or album title have been announced yet, but we'll let you know when they are. Goldblum's next film (which just happens to be a Universal Pictures release) Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, opens in theaters on June 22nd, 2018.
