Mike Anderson Considers How a Thundercats Roar Comic Might Look

I never liked Thundercats. Or He-Man, She-Ra, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, none of those things. Sorry. Even as a kid, while I liked some of the designs, I found the actual stories boring, trite and stupid. Certainly compared to something like, I don't know, Danger Mouse.

As a result, I found myself prejudiced against American cartoons, and took me a long time to get into the Simpsons, King Of The Hill, Ren & Stimpy or more recently Rick & Morty, Steven Universe and Adventure Time. The shadow of Thundercats and their ilk was a long one.

My kids helped of course. There's nothing like reappraising something and challenging your prejudices than seeing it through the eyes of your children.

And so when the promo images for Thundercats Roar were released, I was intrigued. It looked like it might have a chance to be a clever show, that both parents and kids could enjoy, such as the current spate of American cartoons, written with genuine intelligence and wit.

Even if it was created by someone who actually liked Thundercats.

And so it seems did cartoonist Mike Anderson. Who has been thinking how this might translate into a comic book…

Oh and guess what? My youngest wants to read this properly and see what happens next. Publishers, you're up.
