[#MayThe4th] Joonas Suotamo Posts Roar for Change and Wookie Bootcamp Videos

Posted by May 4, 2018 Comment

Chewbacca is one of the most famous co-pilots in the galaxy; I think we can all agree with that, right? The extremely tall (and talkative) Wookie warrior is a mainstay of the Star Wars franchise, his looming presence something we’ve come to expect in the galactic conflict films.

Two Chewbaccas: Peter Mayhew and Joonas Suotamo

Actor Joonas Suotamo has taken over playing Chewie from long-time performer Peter Mayhew, first appearing as a double for the Wookie in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and taking over the role in The Last Jedi and the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Suotamo posted on his Twitter yesterday this year’s challenge to raise funds for Star Wars: Force for Change.  The #RoarForChange idea is if you post, share, or like something with that hashtag between May 4th and May 25th, Star Wars: Force for Change will donate 1$ to UNICEF (up to $1 million).

This is pretty awesome, and hopefully you’ll join in in the fundraiser.

The OTHER thing Joonas posted is a short video which he calls “Wookie Bootcamp”, featuring a “rare encounter between original Chewbacca and myself,” which you can see below.

We’re definitely looking forward to seeing the first meeting between Chewbacca and Han Solo when Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25th, 2018.
