Hulu Renews The Handmaid's Tale for a Third Season

Hulu has announced today that their critically acclaimed series The Handmaid's Tale has been renewed for a third season. The series returned last week for season two to record-breaking numbers for the streaming service, doubling the audience over season one. It is now the most-viewed series debut on Hulu ever in its first week.

The series, which debuted in April 2017, is the first streaming service series to win both the Golden Globe and Emmy Award for Best Drama. It took eight Emmy Awards in total along with a 2018 Peabody award and 30 total awards to date. Critics and fans seem to really like it.

The series is an adaptation of the best-selling Margaret Atwood novel and tells the story of a dystopian future where a woman is forced to live as a concubine under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship. It stars Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O-T Fagbenle, Max Minghella, Samira Wiley, and Amanda Brugel. The series is created for television by Bruce Miller, who serves as the series' showrunner. The Handmaid's Tale is executive produced by Miller, Warren Littlefield, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, Ilene Chaiken and Elisabeth Moss. Margaret Atwood serves as a co-executive producer for season three of the series.

The third episode of season two of the Handmaid's Tale is available today on Hulu.
