Map Selection Being Added to PUBG Very Soon

PUBG Corp. has announced that map selection is coming to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds very soon.

Map selection has been a monkey on the back of PUBH for a little while. It's one of the most requested changes in the game by the community, it plaguing just about every conversation the developer tries to hold. Players want to choose if they are playing Erangel or Miramar, before queuing up to get in.  However, it's not hard to see why the developer is hesitant about doing so. PUBG has always had near instant matchmaking, and splitting up the player base by map preference is going to split who is eligible for any one match. The game has enough players to sustain that, but in less populated regions and especially as that game's map roster increases, it's going to be harder and harder to keep matchmaking quick.

Well, as previously announced, the developer has conceded and the changes are set to come soon. In a Steam post, the functionality was shown off as players will be able to tick which maps they want to queue for. It's a pretty simple system, that just asks you to unselect maps you don't want to queue for.  It's as easy as that. The feature is coming soon, with the developer saying:

We plan to release it soon after implementing it on the test server.

Here is a photo of it in action:

It may not always stay this way the developer warned, saying:

That said, we'll still have to keep a close eye on it, since it could become problematic as new maps continue to be added.

This should be pretty fun to play weith as players will now get choice in their gaming experience. I suspect Erangel servers will be pretty busy.
