With The Walking Dead‘s eighth season wrapping up this Sunday (more on that below) and Fear the Walking Dead season 4 premiering the same night, AMC is pulling out all the stops to gets fans excited for a FTWD season that’s expected to take the series in bold new directions… and let’s not forget our first official crossover between the shows, coming in the form of Lennie James‘s Morgan.
To that end, the network has released the first three minutes of the season premiere, ‘What’s Your Story?’; a preview where we get our first official introduction to Garret Dillahunt‘s trick shooter John Dorie, a lonely man with a broken heart and story to tell:
With production already underway earlier this year, showrunner Ian Goldberg had this to share with Entertainment Weekly about Dillahunt’s John Dorie:
“John is a man of fascinating contradictions. He loves people but has spent a great deal of time on his own. He’s a gentle soul — an innocent in many ways — but is no stranger to violence. He can be soft-spoken and disarmingly funny all at once. / “When we started to think about an actor who could embody all these contradictions and then some, our minds immediately went to Garret Dillahunt. It’s been so much fun watching Garret breathe life into the role and to see his character navigating the FTWD world.”
In season 4, we will see the world of Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and her family through new eyes — the eyes of Morgan Jones (Lennie James), who is joining the story from the world of The Walking Dead. The characters’ immediate pasts mix with an uncertain present of struggle and discovery as they meet new friends, foes, and threats. They fight for each other, against each other and against a legion of the dead to somehow build an existence against the crushing pressure of lives coming apart. There will be darkness and light; terror and grace; and the heroic, mercenary and craven, all crashing together toward a new reality for Fear the Walking Dead.
AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead‘s fourth season stars Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo and Danay Garcia; as well as new series regulars Lennie James, Garret Dillahunt, Jenna Elfman and Maggie Grace. Produced by AMC Studios, the series is executive produced by Scott M. Gimple; showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg; Robert Kirkman; David Alpert; Gale Anne Hurd and Greg Nicotero.
AMC’s “Survival Sunday” takes place this Sunday, April 15th, with The Walking Dead wrapping up season 8’s “All Out War” with an extended season finale starting at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. Fear the Walking Dead debuts its fourth season immediately following; with Chris Hardwick hosting a combined edition of Talking Dead immediately following both shows. Fear the Walking Dead resumes its 9 p.m. ET time slot on Sundays beginning April 22nd.
