Donald Trump’s Champion, Bobby Lashley, Returns to WWE

After a ten-year absence, Bobby Lashley made his return to WWE on tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Lashley interrupted Elias as he was attempting to sing a song about how all the people in New Orleans are scumbags, hoisting Elias into the air and holding him there for roughly fifteen minutes before finally slamming him to the mat.

A former WWECW and TNA champion, as well as an MMA fighter, Lashley is perhaps most famous for being President Donald Trump’s champion during the Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23, where he defeated Vince McMahon’s champion, Umaga. Lashley has continued to be supportive of his former ally, even as Trump’s approval rating has waned.

“I think it’s kinda funny that everybody is flipping the script now because at [WrestleMania 23] and the other times I’ve seen him do things on TV, he was the biggest celebrity or the biggest personality we had and everybody loved him,” said Lashley, who as a wrestler and MMA fighter we should note has been hit in the head on more than one occasion, in 2017. “But I guess as President, maybe he’s a little bit too brash for them. Not me though. I don’t mind him.”

Trump, a WWE Hall-of-Famer, has also kept his close connections with the pro wrestling industry, naming Linda McMahon to his cabinet as head of the Small Business Administration. McMahon has thus far survived the frequent purges of White House staff and advisors, perhaps due to both her experience in the cutthroat pro wrestling industry as well as her close personal friendship with Trump. The McMahons donated millions to Trump during his 2016 campaign.

In addition to Lashley, both Ember Moon, No Way Jose , and the Authors of Pain (with Paul Ellering) made their main roster debut on tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw, while Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn attempted to join Raw after being fired from Smackdown following their loss last night, though Raw General Manager Kurt Angle said the two would need to compete for a single spot.

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
